The Institution of Engineering and Technology is a multidisciplinary professional engineering institution. The Institution of Engineering and Technology (IET) has more than 155,000 engineering and technology professionals in 148 countries. IET members operate almost 100 Local Networks as well as 22 Technical Networks. The IET was formed in March 2006 by a merger of the Institution of Electrical Engineers (IEE) and the Institution of Incorporated Engineers (IIE).

Al-Hussein Bin Talal University, Jordan

International University of Business Agriculture and Technology (IUBAT), Bangladesh

The International University of Business Agriculture and Technology was established in 1991 as the first non-government university in Bangladesh.

The university is located in Dhaka, the capital and largest city of Bangladesh.

The university consists of six colleges: college of business administration, college of engineering and technology, college of arts and sciences, college of agricultural science, college of tourism and hospitality management, and the college of nursing. Each college is divided into different departments offering a range of both undergraduate and graduate degree programmes.

There are two research institutes within the university, the Miyan Research Institute and the IUBAT Institute of SDG Studies, which was founded in 2019. The Institute of SDG Studies facilitates research in the areas of sustainable agriculture, health and wellbeing, quality education, gender equality, clear water and sanitation and climate change.

There are 22 groups and 11 societies on offer for students to join outside of their studies. These include a number of sports clubs such as cricket, football, basketball, and table tennis. Students often represent the university by competing at both regional and national level throughout the year.

Isfahan University of Technology (IUT), Iran 

Isfahan University of Technology (IUT) is a state run university under the supervision of the Ministry of Science, Research and Technology. IUT is one of the major universities and research centres in Iran in the fields of science, engineering, agriculture and natural resources. IUT was founded in 1974 and began its academic activities in 1977 with about 800 students in five departments. Today it has 14 departments offering BSc, MSc and PhD programmes. Graduates from IUT have found great and varied opportunities and have played key roles in rapidly changing economic and industrial environments. The established national and international reputation of IUT is based on the quality and distinctiveness of the research and scholarly activity of its faculties and students. 

Bahauddin Zakariya University, Pakistan 

Bahauddin Zakariya University (BZU) is a second largest university in Punjab (Pakistan) with over 1000 acres of land. It was founded in 1975 as a public sector university. The University has around 650 faculty members and 27000 students. The university has 10 faculties, 2 sub-campuses, 51 departments. BZU offers 94 undergraduate and 70 graduate degree programs in the field of Engineering, IT & Computing, Agriculture, Biochemistry, Pharmacy, Business & Management Sciences, Law, Humanities & Social Sciences, Art, Languages & Literature. BZU's mission is to provide high-quality education, nurture student talent, and promote intellectual growth.


University of Tabriz, Iran 

The University of Tabriz, the second oldest university of country started its activities in 1947 with two faculties of Literature and Medicine. It is now one of the 10 top universities in Iran. Currently, the University of Tabriz enjoying 21 faculties, 10 Research Centers, several Centers of Excellence, Technology Units, International Campuses and its branches, is one of the greatest educational and research centers in Iran. In terms of organization, there are 5 vice-chancelleries with a number of other units managed directly by the chancellor. The University of Tabriz, with its unique scientific facilities in the northwest of Iran, provides its researchers with advanced labs in different fields, having 24000 students, 800 academic staff members, more than 300,000 hard copy books, 800,000 soft copy books, many valuable hand written books, several computer and internet sites, 21 journals and membership of E-Journals. Moreover, the University of Tabriz has been active in the international realms. It holds academic relationship with different and important universities of the world, such as France, Germany, Japan, Turkey, Azerbaijan, Tajikistan, Cyprus, Thailand and so on. It has also signed 90 MoU with universities worldwide. Additionally, UT has an active presence in the International Association of Universities (IAU), International Universities Council (IUC), and Association of Caucasian Universities (KUNIB). 

Xiamen University, China

Xiamen University (XMU), established in 1921 by renowned patriotic overseas Chinese leader Mr. Tan Kah Kee, is the first university founded by an overseas Chinese in the history of modern Chinese education. XMU has long been listed among China’s leading universities on the national 211 Project, 985 Project and Double First-Class Initiative, which have been launched by the Chinese government to support selected universities in achieving world-class standing.

 

With a graduate school, six academic divisions consisting of 33 schools and colleges, and 16 research institutes, XMU boasts a total enrollment of nearly 44,000 full-time students with over 20,000 undergraduates, 18,000 graduate students toward a master’s degree and 5,000 doctoral candidates. XMU currently has a faculty of over 3,000 full-time teachers and researchers, of whom 32 are the members of the Chinese Academy of Sciences or of the Chinese Academy of Engineering.

 

XMU has forged partnerships with 259 universities in countries and regions, including the UK, the US, Japan, France, Russia, etc., as well as Hong Kong SAR, Macao SAR and Taiwan, China. It has established 15 Confucius Institutes in collaboration with universities and institutes overseas. 

Universitas Sumatera Utara (USU)

Universitas Sumatera Utara (USU) was founded in 1952. The main campus is in the city of Medan and the second campus in the Kwala Bekala, Deli Serdang Regency, North Sumatra Province, Indonesia.

Universitas Sumatera Utara offers more than 100 different study programs, at both undergraduate and postgraduate level, across 16 (sixteen) faculties and one postgraduate school.

The faculties relating to health field are faculty of medicine, dentistry, public health, nursing, psychology, and pharmacy. Faculties for science includes faculty of engineering, mathematics and natural sciences, agriculture, computer science and information technology, and forestry. Social science faculties are faculty of law, cultural sciences, social and political sciences, and economics and business. A newly established faculty is the Faculty of Vocational Education.

USU manages a teaching hospital located in the main campus to support medical-related education. It’ is the biggest teaching hospital in Indonesia and offers students the chance of pursuing specialist education in areas such as tropical medicine, radiology, pharmacology, psychiatry, dermatology, neurology, and others. In addition, USU also has an oral and dental teaching hospital.

Universitas Sumatera Utara has established plenty of academic collaborations with universities around the world, carrying out various mutual exchange activities such as academic exchanges for faculty and student, joint research, community service project, and other opportunity for capacity building.

University of KwaZulu-Natal, South Africa 

The University KwaZulu-Natal in Durban, eastern South Africa, was formed in 2004 following a merger of the University of Durban-Westville and the University of Natal, the first institutions to merge after government legislation aimed at reducing the number of South African universities. 

A five-campus university, it has links with more than 250 institutions globally.

With famous beaches lining its long Indian Ocean waterfront, the city of Durban - the second largest city in South Africa - undoubtedly has something of an Asian feel, with much of its music and cuisine Indian-influenced. The Pietermaritzburg campus is the only one that is not located near to the seafront. 

International Islamic University, Malaysia 

The International Islamic University Malaysia (IIUM) was established in 1983 under the Company Act 1965 with international co-sponsorship from various governments and organisations worldwide, namely: Malaysia, Bangladesh, Egypt, Libya, the Maldives, Pakistan, Saudi Arabia, Turkey, and the Organisation of the Islamic Conference (OIC). It strives to instil a respect for academic excellence and promote a balanced personality in the graduates by integrating the Islamic value system in all aspects. 

IIUM operates under the direction of the Board of Governors with representatives from the eight sponsoring governments and the OIC. It maintains links with governments and institutions all over the world, such as the League of Islamic Universities, the International Association of Universities and the Association of Commonwealth Universities. Moreover, several Malaysian-based businesses are affiliated with the university in providing opportunities for students to gain practical work experience.

The university has a broad mix of students and staff of varied cultural backgrounds. There are 27,700 students representing a hundred and seventeen (117) countries enrolled in various courses and degree programmes. The broad spectrum of qualifications and modes of study allows the university to offer something to everyone in the world community, both Muslims and Non-Muslims. Such a wide mix of people and backgrounds contributes to the learning process, bringing students together in a common quest for knowledge and skills.

IIUM occupies five (5) campuses in residential areas of Gombak, Kuala Lumpur, Gambang and Bandar Indera Mahkota, in Pahang, and Pagoh, in Johor. The main campus is located on a 288-hectare site in Gombak near Kuala Lumpur and the Medical School is on a 400-hectares site in Kuantan, on the east coast of Peninsular Malaysia. The Gombak campus is the centre of IIUM administration while the Gambang campus houses the Centre for Foundation studies.

The IIUM faculty consists of a distinguished group of scholars whose doctorates or other final professional degrees are from leading research universities around the globe. They contribute to editing professional and scholarly journals, author texts, undertaking research, participating in international seminars and conferences, and frequently consulting corporate and various agencies.

June 1994 marked the opening of the Kulliyyah of Engineering (KOE) and is now celebrates its 30th Anniversary in June 2024. Starting with two departments, the Kulliyyah has grown to have seven (7) departments offering eight (8) degree programmes, which have been accredited by the Board of Engineers Malaysia (BEM). With the vision to be “A Global Centre of Innovative Engineering Education and Research with Values and Professional Ethics”, the mission of the Kulliyyah of Engineering is to provide quality engineering education, with a broad scope to include fundamental and specialized knowledge and practice in engineering. 

In line with the Kulliyyah’s philosophy, the engineering programmes offer an integrated and comprehensive education that transcends the boundaries of various disciplines. This is consistent with the Islamic concept of tawhid, which unifies the spiritual and physical aspects of life into a harmonious continuity. 


CECOS University

With a rich history spanning over 38 years, CECOS University stands as a beacon of academic excellence and innovation. Founded in 1986 as the CECOS Data Institute, our journey has been marked by growth, transformation, and a steadfast commitment to nurturing talent and inspiring ideas. Today, CECOS University offers a diverse range of degree programs in Electrical, Civil, and Mechanical Engineering, Architecture, Computer Sciences, Biotechnology, Business Administration, Commerce, and Technology.

Our story began with the establishment of CECOS Data Institute, followed by the creation of the CECOS Frontier College of Business Education and CECOS Data College. During this period, we launched the Department of Management Sciences and the Department of Computer Science, laying the groundwork for future expansion. The mid-90s saw the establishment of the CECOS College of Engineering and IT, along with the Departments of Civil and Electrical Engineering. Our reach extended internationally with the inception of CECOS College London, reflecting our commitment to providing quality education globally.

A significant milestone was achieved with the grant of our charter by the KP Government, marking the official establishment of CECOS University. We received recognition from the Higher Education Commission and accreditation from the Pakistan Engineering Council. This era also saw the introduction of the Department of Architecture, further diversifying our academic offerings. We launched the CECOS Industrial Liaison Centre and received accreditation from PCATP. The RAFSAN Neuro Rehab Centre and the Department of Mechanical Engineering were established, along with the Institute of Integrative Biosciences, enhancing our focus on interdisciplinary research and collaboration.

The recent years have been marked by the creation of the Peshawar Light Engineering Centre, The Edex School, and the Department of Allied Health Sciences. We received accreditation from NCEAC and the Pharmacy Council of Pakistan, further validating our commitment to quality education. The establishment of CECOS Innovations and The RAFSAN School reflects our continuous drive for innovation and community engagement.

Islamic University of Technology (IUT)


IUT is a subsidiary organ of the Organization of Islamic Cooperation (OIC) representing 57 member countries from Asia, Africa, Europe and South America. It is dedicated to the development of human resources of the Islamic Ummah in the field of engineering, technology and technical education. This institute was established initially as Islamic Center for Technical and Vocational Training and Research (ICTVTR) in 1978, later renamed as Islamic Institute of Technology (IIT) in 1994 and finally rebranded as Islamic University of Technology (IUT) in 2001.

Currently, IUT is enrolling students in undergraduate and post-graduate programmes in Mechanical and Production Engineering (MPE), Electrical and Electronic Engineering (EEE), Computer Science and Engineering (CSE), Civil and Environmental Engineering (CEE), Business and Technology Management (BTM) and Technical and Vocational Education (TVE). The total number of students studying at IUT is 2774 with a student and teacher ratio of 15:1. IUT provides 80 full scholarships and 132 partial scholarships for undergraduate studies and provides 100% in-campus residential facilities for the international students, which is currently 25% of the total students. Two undergraduate programs, Civil and Environmental Engineering and Mechanical Engineering are accredited by the Board of Accreditation for Engineering and Technical Education (BAETE), a full signatory of the prestigious Washington Accord. The other undergraduate programs are underway to apply for accreditation from BAETE.

IUT is focusing its research activities on different branches of Engineering, Technical and Vocational and Business fields and is trying to be a research-oriented university by developing the research culture in the university. Faculty members carry out research activities in their specializations and regularly publish papers in reputed journals and present papers in local and international conferences. Some of the currents research areas are: Robotics, CIM, CFD, Renewable Energy, Artificial Intelligence, Industrial Engineering and Management, Medical and advance Power Electronics, Wireless Sensors Networking, Bioinformatics, Image Processing and Pattern Recognition, Natural Language Processing, Human Computer Interaction, Structural Engineering, Geotechnical Engineering, Transportation Engineering, Road Safety, Tunnelling, Waste Management, Microplastics Pollution, Climate Change, Construction Management and Materials, ICT integration in TVE, Social Networking, Business Research and others. The Department of Research, Extension, Advisory Services and Publication (REASP) provides administrative support for research activities for different departments. The Department of REASP extends professional consultancy services leveraging the experts of IUT’s distinguished faculty members, renowned for their extensive experience and international acclaim to industry and other organizations. IUT provides Research Seed Grant for research activities of the faculty members and provides financial support to attend reputed conferences and seminars worldwide. The faculty members are also seeking funds from international and national organizations for their research support.

Besides the regular academic programmes, IUT offers short courses, seminars, certificate courses and workshops as part of its statutory obligations, with the objectives of assisting the Member States of OIC in developing appropriate human resources in modern and emerging technologies, upgrading and updating the knowledge and skills of the professionals. The host country students enroll at IUT through a competitive entrance examination, with a success rate of 1:10. The foreign students are enrolling through the nominating authorities, which are screening through online interviews.


Universiti Teknologi MARA (UiTM)

Universiti Teknologi MARA (UiTM) is the largest comprehensive university in Malaysia providing innovative education with state-of-the-art infrastructure and technology within reach at its 34 campuses, 4 colleges of studies, 14 faculties, and 9 academic centres all over the country.  UiTM offers over 500 academic programmes at Foundation, Pre-Diploma, Diploma, Bachelor’s, Master’s, and PhD levels, as well as Professional Programmes. It continues to expand access to higher education, playing its role in nation-building by unleashing potentials and shaping the future.

Amongst its long list of recent accolades, UiTM is placed =587 in the QS World University Rankings 2025, ranked 98th in the QS Asia University Rankings 2024, and was ranked as =599 for QS World University Rankings: Sustainability 2024, 151st in Asia and 13th in Malaysia. With over 700,000 alumni in science, technology, humanities, and entrepreneurship, UiTM offers opportunities to shape leaders at national, industry, and global levels and is well poised to become a globally renowned university by 2025. 

College of Engineering UiTM: After the humble beginning in the early 1970s, the four engineering faculties of UiTM namely Faculty of Chemical Engineering, Faculty of Civil Engineering, Faculty of Mechanical and Faculty of Electrical Engineering has been restructured into the College of Engineering on the 29th of March, 2021. The college is now headed by an Assistant Vice Chancellor and assisted by four College Deans. The restructuring was under taken to meet the changing landscape of higher education and new demands from the industry. The formation of the college marked   the beginning of realizing the initiative in ‘Establishing a superstructure organisation through the merging of faculties, based on clusters’ at UITM. The new college will be home to 8000 students and 700 staffs that are keen and dedicated to work together towards empowering higher and better global excellence. In addition to the four schools located at the main campus in Shah Alam, Selangor, the College of Engineering is equally responsible for running all engineering programs in the UiTM Branch campuses in Pulau Pinang, Pahang, Terengganu, Johor, and Sarawak. Several outstanding achievements have been made from the combined expertise from all engineering faculties such as the invention of the solar car named ‘TUAH’ that successfully crossed the Adelaide desert as far as 623 km. Another proud accomplishment was the production of UiTM AV1 which is an autonomous vehicle that was developed as a result of the proficiency and talent of 16 researchers from 4 faculties where UiTM was the first university to successfully produce such a vehicle in Malaysia



Halu Oleo University

Halu Oleo University (UHO), located in Kendari, Southeast Sulawesi, Indonesia, is a prominent institution dedicated to academic excellence and community service. Universiti Teknologi Brunei (UTB)

Universiti Teknologi Brunei (UTB) is an Engineering and Technology University in Brunei Darussalam that specialises in the niche areas of Engineering, Business, Computing, Applied Sciences & Mathematics, and Design. UTB was first established in 1986 as Institut Teknologi Brunei (ITB). In 2008, ITB was upgraded from a higher learning institution offering Higher National Diploma (HND) programmes in Engineering, Business and Computing to a university, and was then changed to Universiti Teknologi Brunei on 1 March 2016. UTB specialises in the area of Engineering, Business, Computing, Applied Sciences & Mathematics and Design.

Over the years, UTB has signed numerous agreements with prestigious organisations in the country and around the world to collaborate in research, education and training programmes.This includes the exchange of undergraduate and postgraduate students, industrial internships, exchange of academics, joint research, conferences, consultancies, seminars and other projects.

UTB made its first appearance in the Quacquarelli Symonds World University Ranking (QSWUR) at 442 in 2018, evaluated against 4,763 institutions from 151 countries. The university rose by 63 places in 2019 and is ranked at 379. This has also ranked UTB at 51 for Young Global University under 50 years of age and this presents another great achievement since UTB is a very young university. UTB is the only local university to receive a five-star ranking from the QS Stars rating, and the first university to have successfully acquired the ISO 9001:2015 Quality Management System Certification by the Bureau Veritas in July 2019. With its hands-on approach and industry-based programmes, UTB has produced graduates who are highly valued by local employers and readily accepted by top universities around the world. In terms of research, UTB strives to become a university that contributes to the enrichment of knowledge and solving contemporary issues that focuses on energy, sustainable built environment, agri-food, digital and creativity, society and enterprise, and wellness.
